Hiking route through Olot that will take you from volcano to volcano.

Today we propose a hiking route through Olot that will take you from volcano to volcano: of the Montsacopa to Montolivet.

Montsacopa volcano is the most urban and emblematic volcano Olot. Accessible to everyone, is an open-air museum: its graders, the crater in a circular shape, the Carlist towers that were declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, the hermitage of St. Francis of Padua…! And it is too, from where you can enjoy the best views of Olot, part of the Vall d’en Bas and the Canigó mountain range.

Emerged from the same fault, the Montolivet volcano is the little brother of the Montsacopa volcano. Above the Montolivet volcano you can see, of great historical interest, a 19th century optical telegraphy tower. Following the bare mountain you will enjoy the views of the city and the neighboring village, The Dams.

Aligned between the volcanoes of La Garrinada and Montolivet, Montsacopa has a circular crater produced by a low-explosive Stromboli eruption a few years ago 100.000 years. Declared a Nature Reserve Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, it is fully integrated within the urban core of the city.
Inside the fortified enclosure of the church of Sant Francesc, above the crater, you will find a service space for the visitor, the Fort; It has a bar and restaurant with a menu of dishes made with local products.

It is a family excursion where you can discover the surroundings, forests and volcanoes are insured!
